Finishing up the Book of Luke - Honeycomb Coloring Page, Honeycomb Maze, and Food-Matching Activity Page

Last week our Sunday School class finished the book of Luke. This included these verses:
And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them.  -Luke 24:41-43
Ethan, my brother who teaches the class, discussed with the students that eating was one way Jesus showed the disciples that He was not a ghost. We decided to do also do a craft about the honeycomb, since it is specially mentioned as one of the foods that Jesus ate.

Did you know that Jesus was fulfilling a biblical command when He ate the honeycomb? In Proverbs it says,
My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste... -Proverbs 24:13
(note that the Bible also has a warning not to eat too much honey in Proverbs 25:27! I mentioned this to our class as well - we should eat the right amount, like Jesus did.).

I added Proverbs 24:13 to this coloring page from freekidscoloring.com. The coloring page below was the result. If students want to add 6 legs to the bee, they can, as she doesn't seem to have any!

I also handed out the maze below from this site, with a warning that it was "very challenging." Everyone, down to the youngest student, wanted to try it! They all succeeded, although some needed some help.

Since we were finishing up the book, we also took the chance also to review other foods that had been featured in the Book of Luke. I made a match-the-story-to-the-food activity page, using stories from the entire book of Luke. It was more difficult for the students than I had thought, but everyone succeeded (again with some help for the younger ones).
